About Project
Spring Voyage is a mobile app designed to help college students easily plan memorable spring break trips with curated itineraries for top destinations. Created in a team of three, the app provides users with time-saving, location-specific plans, helping them make the most of limited vacation days. As the lead designer and prototyper, I was responsible for transforming our vision into an intuitive and engaging user experience.
- Build an app that simplifies spring break trip planning for students
- Provide curated, pre-built travel itineraries based on destination and trip style
- Design an intuitive, visually appealing interface that caters to a Gen Z audience
Process
- User & Market Research
- We began by researching how students currently plan trips and identified key challenges: disorganized planning, decision fatigue, and lack of trusted recommendations. This informed our core features: itinerary previews, activity filters, and destination highlights.
- Wireframing & User Flow
- I created low- and mid-fidelity wireframes to explore layout ideas and navigation flows. These designs centered around simplicity—users could quickly select a destination, browse day-by-day itineraries, and bookmark trips.
- High-Fidelity Prototyping
- Using Figma, I developed a clickable prototype that brought our vision to life. The design featured vibrant visuals, clean navigation, and mobile-friendly layouts. I focused on ensuring consistency across screens and aligning visual elements with the travel theme.
- Feedback & Iteration
- We conducted informal user testing with classmates, gathering feedback on usability and visual clarity. Based on input, I refined icon usage, adjusted the color scheme for better contrast, and reorganized content blocks for easier navigation.
Outcome
The final prototype delivered a seamless user experience, enabling students to quickly find, customize, and follow trip plans. Our solution received positive feedback for its simplicity and usefulness, and it showcased our ability to combine research, creativity, and practical UX design.
